Bow and Arrow

In exploring the craft beer scene of Albuquerque it’s always a foregone conclusion that certain breweries will stand out more than others. Those breweries that not only serve amazing beer, but also have a unique backstory, a beautiful tap room, or an expansive patio. But what are the odds that one brewery would have all of that, and be in the heart of the duke city of all places? Well with a Native American owner, award winning brewer, and crafting beers using indigenous ingredients it is no wonder why Bow and Arrow is such a great brewery. I had first tried Bow and Arrow when I first moved here, and instantly knew this was a tap room I had to visit. I’m glad I did not wait long because now I am already planning on my next visit. When I first pulled up, I was shocked how large this space was. The large warehouse with some modern architecture with the massive outdoor patio made this an impressive sight. Then I walked in and was equally impressed by how spacious, and beautiful the tap

Tap N Taco

When I first made the decision to move down here there were several things I was excited about. But near the top of the list was food, and to be more specific the great Mexican food. So how lucky was I to discover a place in Rio Rancho that not only serves great tacos, but also quesadillas, and has a great bar on the inside serving specialty cocktails, and craft beer? The answer is very lucky, and with a great variety to choose from at very affordable prices one of the great taco places I’ve tried is Tap N Taco. Located on Highway 528 in an old fast-food restaurant this place is worth seeking out. There is ample seating on the inside, as well as a beautiful outdoor patio with picnic tables for those beautiful New Mexico days. All the food is prepared right in front of you as you order, and the prices are all the same. $2.00 tacos, $6.00 quesadillas, and $7.00 baked potatoes/French fries. There are also five different proteins to choose from including al pastor, barbacoa, carne asad

Rio Rancho Coffee

Like most people I enjoy starting everyday with a cup of coffee. Also like most people I occasionally enjoy going to a coffee shop to enjoy something more than black coffee. Unfortunately, I don’t always enjoy going to the large chain coffee shops where the line is excessively long, and the drinks aren’t always worth the price. So, it came as such a pleasant surprise when I moved to New Mexico how many independent, and locally operated coffee shops there really were. I was also very happy to discover that two of them are right in Rio Rancho with great offerings at both locations. Gnomad Coffee: Located off Unser and Cherry in the parking lot of a furniture store it is easy to pass this bright blue truck if you aren’t paying attention. Well, if you stop you will not be disappointed. The owner is very friendly, passionate about coffee, and has a large menu with a variety of coffee drinks. The mocha is one of the best I have had only for the reason that it is not sweet. The chocolate

Toadstool Hoodoo

Recently on various social media pages I had been reading and seeing photos of people going to see the Hoodoo rocks. Also, after seeing these photos, I instantly became fascinated and wanted to see them for myself. To my surprise they were located nearby so the dog went in the car, and we were off to find these very unique rock formations. But getting there was not as easy as the map made it out to be. But before I could find them, I first had to figure out what a hoodoo was. A hoodoo itself is a set of spiritual practices, traditions, and beliefs that dates back hundreds of years. A hoodoo is a spire made of various rocks and minerals that are tall and thin with a larger rock on top. The majority of the drive there is on a very bumpy dirt road, and there were a few times I almost turned back. There is nothing quite like being greeted by No Trespassing signs to make you question if you should go, but I figured if this many people are going it must be ok. The second time I almost turn
