Santa Fe Brewing
Being
from Colorado craft beer is part of the culture one lives by, and I was very
relieved to see that culture translate to New Mexico. Also, just like in
Colorado there are always those bucket list breweries that must be checked off.
Those breweries that paved the way for craft breweries in the state, and the
ones that are still going strong today. So, it was only a matter of time until
I paid that brewery a visit, and it couldn’t be one of their multiple
locations, but instead the original. Of course, I could only be talking about
Santa Fe Brewing.
Now to
clarify this was not my first trip to Santa Fe Brewing, I went years ago the
first time I came for fiesta. I enjoyed it then, but upon my most recent visit
I was surprised how much this brewery had expanded. I was surprised how much
this place had changed and grown. The new interior is nothing short of
beautiful with the large windows, merchandise shop, and large bar to order any
assortment of Santa Fe Beers or cocktails. But the highlight is the new expanded
beer garden. The picnic tables provide room for groups of all sizes, with great
views of the surrounding mountains. The standing taco truck allows a great food
option, and giant connect four allows guests a fun time to enjoy with their
beer.
Speaking
of the beer, there is a wide variety for fans of all styles. For fans of
lighter beers there is no better offering than the newest beer the NMX
Standard. This easy drinking blonde ale is perfect to enjoy while taking in the
mountain scenery and enjoying the New Mexico sun. Also, just as refreshing are
the Pepe Loco Lager, and Social Hour Wit. For the hop fans out there the 7K IPA
is a great representation of a west coast IPA, and the Santa FHazy is tropical,
juicy, and perfect for fans of the hazy style. For fans of darker beers, the
nut brown, and imperial java stout are classic beers, and a reminder of why
this brewery is so iconic. Also available is wine, cider, and beer inspired
cocktails including their version of micheladas, and beergaritas.
In this
day and age where craft breweries are opening up left and right it is always
important to remember why craft beer exists in the first place. In New Mexico
Santa Fe Brewing is the reason. For almost twenty-five years they have been
producing high quality beers for the masses to enjoy, and without them the
industry might not exist in this state. There is not such thing as a bad beer
from Santa Fe, whether it is a year-round or a seasonal offering. This is a
brewery that should be on every New Mexicans bucket list to go and see at least
once. So far I’ve already been twice, but know that this will be a visit for
years to come.
