Resource
If there is one thing, I have learned
it is that breweries can be, and usually are located anywhere. That is exactly
the case in the Northeast Heights neighborhood of Albuquerque where tucked away
in the back of a shopping center lies a small neighborhood brewery. Not only do
they make great beer in a wide variety of styles, but they also focus on being
eco-friendly, as well as philanthropic, and community based. To top it all off
they also opened their doors during the height of the pandemic, so when near Candelaria
and Eubank make sure to stop by and sample Resource Brewing.
When you first drive up it is evident
just how small this brewery is, and it is easy to drive by and miss altogether.
Inside though it is a very welcoming brewery that has a very comfortable feel
to it. One of my favorite aspects is that there is only a small divider
separating guests from the brewhouse and fermenters. Follow that around and you
will be greeted at the bar by very friendly servers. The rest of the décor in
the brewery is very nice and modern. The bar back is rustic looking tiles with
the menu placed throughout, and the rest of the brewery has lots of great
artwork to look at while enjoying a pint. In addition, there is a small pet
friendly patio. So, the only question is what to drink?
Like I said earlier Resource does a
great job of brewing beers in multiple styles so there is sure to be something
that everybody will like. I opted for a flight to sample a little bit of
everything, and I tried the Kolsch, Schwarzbier, Citra IPA, and a Blueberry
Coconut Oatmeal Stout. All were very good but the highlights for me were the
Schwarzbier which had subtly roasted flavor, but was light, crisp, and
refreshing. The other highlight was the Stout, which was rich, a little sweet
from the coconut, but the blueberry flavor was very unique and added a fresh
flavor that I have not had before at any brewery. The Kolsch and IPA were also
very good, but just barely missed out on being my favorite. Thankfully Resource
has plenty of options to take their amazing beers home. They have a cooler
where certain bottles are available for sale, as well as growlers in various
sizes.
While I knew about this brewery
shortly after I moved here it took me a while to finally visit, and I really
wish I had gone sooner. From all aspects this was a great brewery experience.
The environment inside was comfortable, the staff was friendly and welcoming,
the beer was very good, and there was a great sense of community, which is one
of their goals. I would go back for a pint of any of the beers I tried and
would also be curious about what new beers they come out with. I would highly
recommend to craft beer fans, or anyone wanting to try a new place, and will
make a repeat visit myself.
